Terms of Service

Last updated:

Please read these terms carefully before using Legibly. By accessing or using the service you agree to be bound by them.

01About Legibly

Legibly (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is an artificial intelligence service that analyzes documents and produces plain-language summaries. Legibly is available to users worldwide.

By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.

03AI Accuracy

AI systems can make errors. Legibly's summaries may be incomplete, inaccurate, or misleading. We make no warranty, express or implied, as to the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any purpose of any analysis produced by the service. You use the output entirely at your own risk.

04Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Upload documents you do not have the right to share;
  • Use Legibly to facilitate fraud, harassment, or any unlawful purpose;
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or circumvent the service;
  • Resell or redistribute analyses without our written permission.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, without prior notice where circumstances warrant.

05Subscription & Billing

Legibly offers free and paid subscription plans. Paid plans are billed monthly through Stripe. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial months except where required by applicable law.

Plan limits (number of analyses per month) reset on your billing anniversary date. Unused analyses do not carry over to the next period.

06Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of any documents you upload. By uploading a document you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to process it solely to provide the analysis you requested. We do not use your documents to train AI models.

Your uploaded files are deleted immediately after analysis. Only the resulting plain-language summary is retained, for up to 90 days, then permanently deleted.

07Disclaimer of Warranties

The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

08Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Legibly and its officers, employees, agents, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the service — including damages for reliance on AI-generated summaries, loss of profits, loss of data, or business interruption — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from use of the service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total fees you paid to us in the three months immediately preceding the claim, or (b) $10.00.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities, so the above limitations may not apply to you in full.

09Privacy

Your use of Legibly is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and disclose personal information in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

10Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service shall be resolved by the courts of competent jurisdiction. If you access the service from outside the region where we operate, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws.

11Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by a notice within the service at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of Legibly after the effective date of any revision constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
